We will fix it.
We will mend it………
A man and a woman meet, to discuss in the light of a pregnancy,
the future of their tempestuous relationship. They must
pick apart their history, stitch by painful stitch to find
out when and where it went wrong, and to decide if it can
be mended.
 Stitching
is a bizarre and darkly comic love story and a sexual dialogue
between two grieving people.
“Neilson’s Stitching is the
talking point of the fringe and one of the most exciting
plays of the year. Startlingly rich and challenging , Neilson
depicts with aching precision a relationship in which love
is undermined by distrust. McKee and Boyack are extremely
impressive. I left the theatre with my pulse, and my mind,
racing.” - Time Out
“Anthony Neilson examines the way we
love now with his exquisite brand of bruised tenderness.
A brave play, acted with enormous bravado by Selina Boyack
and Phil McKee” - The Guardian
“Anthony Neilson’s new play explodes
with power, discipline, integrity and sheer cruel psychological
accuracy…..Neilson’s writing has a terrible
beauty…he directs with impeccable clarity and objectivity
and the acting blazes like subterranean fire” - The
Sunday Times
“a searing new play……definitely
on my short list for the best of 2002” - Independent
on Sunday
Stitching played to critical acclaim at the Traverse and
Bush theatres and on national and international tour. It
won a Time Out Award for best off west end production and
the writer received a Herald Angel and was short-listed
for an Evening Standard Award.
