Our most recent productions, Animal and Hoxton Story utilised film, whilst our public theatre event, Going Public, showcased films for a range of companies working in grassroots and public settings. And The Guns are Getting Louder and Journeys to Work will further explore the cross between the mediums, working with communities and children at risk.
In summer 2005 we completed Snake Park, a short film about gun crime. The film was created with a group of hard-to-reach young people on an estate in East London, and was funded by the Film Council (First Light) and the Home Office (Connect Fund).
The Red Room is committed to exploring the medium of film
through both the creation of films themselves, and the integration
of film into our productions. We work with film makers in
a variety of contexts, and amongst them there are a core
group of writers whose work has crossed the threshold between
film and theatre.
My Sky is Big, a 35mm short film directed by Lisa Goldman
and written by Rob Young was funded by the Wandsworth Short
Film award and LFVDA, it was shown as part of the 2001 London
Film Festival in the National Film Theatre’s auditorium
1.
